About Us
Asta Productions is a division of Doctor Video, serving the New River Valley
area of southwestern Virginia for 15 years. Asta Productions was borne out
of the need to provide professional videography for videotaping dance recitals
and family reunions. Having had many requests from local business or
families to video tape their events, Doctor Video immediately went digital.
In 1998 Doctor Video began video taping plays, recitals, reunions and more.
Wanting to differentiate electronic repairs (Doctor Video) from videography, in
1999 we adopted the name: Asta Productions.
Having graduated from Virginia Tech, the senior videographer used her skills
to not only shoot the video the way it needed to be done professionally but use
her talents in editing. Having taken courses in computer editing, it was much
easier to edit non-liner than doing liner editing, which is how VHS and
Super-VHS editing was originally done. Our senior videographer, Christina
Webb, graduated in Communications: TV & Radio Productions has the educational
background needed to produce a quality video. She takes pride in her work
and wants to produce a wedding video (or any type of video) that you would want
to watch again and again.
We have traveled to many locations to video tape weddings and events,
including: Durham and Charlotte NC, Bluefield and Princeton WV, Lexington,
Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Wytheville and through-out the
New River Valley area.

Asta Productions, An Award Winning Videography Company
Asta Productions awarded "Award of Distinction"
Asta Productions was awarded the 2004
Award of Distinction from The Communicator Awards. The video
segment which won the award is in the category of Special Events/Wedding
Flashback. The title of the entry is "Reflections of Sara & Ian's Wedding
Day." This flashback of Sara and Ian's wedding included extra flashbacks
to the wedding rehearsal and showed how part of the wedding looked at rehearsal
and then how it actually took place on the wedding day. The rehearsal
footage is in black and white and cross-faded into the color version of the
wedding day. Sara and Ian could be heard clearly as they recited their
vows to each other and as they exchanged rings. The segment was set to
music, which was the song the couple danced at their wedding reception, "You had
me at Hello", by Kenney Chesney. According to The Communicator Awards only
18 percent of the entries received this award. The Award of Distinction receives
a jade glass award, handcrafted with the Communicator's logo and year, etched
into the glass. The cherry base is inscribed with the winner's name and
title of entry.
Asta Productions was
also awarded an Honorable Mention in the category Medical/Low Budget under
$1,500, for a video they created for New River Community Hospital. The
video, "Enhanced Communication for Patient Safety" can be seen at the hospital
on their closed circuit television for patient and visitor information.
This award receives a certificate.
The Communicator's Award of Distinction
is awarded for projects that exceed industry standards in production or
communication skills. Honorable Mention certificates are granted to those
entries that meet the high standards of the industry. About 8 percent of the
entries received this honor.
